Berlin Pulp Mill

On October 4, 2006, Crisp & Associates was pleased to represent the Michigan corporation, North American Dismantling Corp. in its acquisition of the historic Pulp Mill in Berlin, New Hampshire from Fraser, NH, LLC, a subsidiary of the Fraser Paper Company headquartered in Toronto, Ontario Canada.

The Berlin Pulp Mill had been the principle source of employment for the City of Berlin and the North Country generally for generations. The 121 acre site contains a pulp making facility initially constructed by the Brown Family early in the twentieth century. It has been modified and upgraded by succeeding owners. In May, 2006, it was closed permanently because it was no longer profitable.

The closing between North American and Fraser took place at the beginning of October. North American will be dismantling the Pulp Mill, selling its valuable assets, demolishing remaining structures, and marketing the 121 acres of land along the east side of the Androscoggin River.

Crisp and Associates will be working with North American, its MIchigan counsel, Dennis Strelchuk, the City of Berlin and the NH Department of Resources and Economic Development on issues that arise in the dismantling, demolition and development process for the Pulp Mill site.
